In conjunction with the Coldwater Classic earlier this month O’Neill honored the man behind the brand, Jack O’Neill, with an art exhibition titled “60 Years of Innovation”. The show featured artwork from various artists from around the world, giving their perspective on the legendary inventor of the wetsuit. Also on display were six decades of wetsuit innovations, along with several historic O’Neill artifacts including Jack’s hot air balloon. The night saw a handful of WCT surfers including Kelly Slater, Jordy Smith, Matt Wilkinson, and CJ Hobgood among others in attendance.
Since 1952 O’Neill has been at the forefront of innovation and this exhibition showcased six decades of industry firsts. From the wetsuits to, iconic imagery, and stories. Above all, this event was a celebration of Jack, his passion, and his love for surfing. Jack O’Neill is a pioneer in all aspects of the surf industry. Without his foresight and dedication to wetsuit innovation, the industry would not be where it is at today.
